Introduction :

Goodwin is a large ACT-based not-for-profit aged care provider, owned by members (mostly residents), with residences in ACT and NSW. MDFM were originally engaged to create an Asset Management Plan for Goodwin’s one retirement village located in NSW, but after positive results the project was extended to do the same for all facilities and villages in the Goodwin portfolio.

Problem :

Although this award-winning aged care organisation already had a reputable CMMS program installed, the system was not used to its full potential. Goodwin also had the challenge of trying to efficiently manage the maintenance of its growing list of assets across ACT and NSW. The Goodwin management team began to look for alternative CMMS options, and approached MDFM to help them find and implement a new system.

Solution :

  • MDFM demonstrated to Goodwin how MEX could be utilised to not only host the Asset Management Plan for the NSW village, but also manage maintenance across all of Goodwin’s facilities.
  • MDFM executed and provided an accurate asset register, which is at the centre of the CMMS.
  • MDFM reviewed the setup of MEX and customised it to operate in a way that worked for Goodwin.
  • MDFM trained the relevant maintenance and management staff on how to use MEX to save them time and stress, through a series of on-site demonstrations and video-link training sessions.

Results :

  • Goodwin is now running all maintenance through MEX, which means one central system and single source of truth, which adds transparency and accountability for staff and the board.
  • Goodwin is now collecting valuable data that will contribute to future decisions around asset replacement and planned maintenance.
